Un peu d'histoire  

Le terme bouddha signifie littéralement « qui s'est éveillé ». 

Son nom de famille était Gautama (en japonais : Kudon 瞿曇) et son nom personnel était Siddhartha (en japonais : Shittatta 悉達多). Il est né au milieu du VIe ou du Ve siècle av. J.-C. en tant que fils du roi Suddhodana du clan Shakya près de Kapilavastu dans l'actuel Népal. 

À l'âge de 29 ans, il quitta son domicile pour devenir un ascète mendiant et, 6 ans plus tard, atteignit l'illumination, devenant ainsi un Bouddha ou « être éclairé ». Il voyagea ensuite dans le centre de l'Inde pour partager sa sagesse jusqu'à sa mort à Kusinagari à l'âge de 80 ans .

The term Buddha literally means "one who has awakened".

His family name was Gautama (Japanese: Kudon 瞿曇) and his personal name was Siddhartha (Japanese: Shittatta 悉達多). He was born in the mid-6th or 5th century BCE as the son of King Suddhodana of the Shakya clan near Kapilavastu in present-day Nepal.

At the age of 29, he left his home to become a mendicant ascetic and, 6 years later, attained enlightenment, becoming a Buddha or "enlightened being".

He then traveled throughout central India sharing his wisdom until his death in Kusinagari at the age of 80.
