Un peu d'histoire   

Au Japon, un tanuki (タヌキ) désigne un chien viverrin local, ressemblant à un raton-laveur.

Dans le folklore japonais, il est considéré comme un yōkai, un esprit de la forêt aux attributs disproportionnés et aux pouvoirs magiques. Très populaire, il arbore un museau enjoué, un ventre rebondi, un chapeau de paille, une gourde de saké et une liasse reliée de notes d’auberges impayées.

Il est célèbre internationalement par le film d’animation "Pompoko" de Isao Takahata.

In Japan, a tanuki (タヌキ) refers to a local wild dog loking lique a raccoon.

In Japanese folklore, it is considered a yōkai, a forest spirit with disproportionate attributes and magical powers. 

Very popular, it sports a playful muzzle, a plump belly, a straw hat, a sake gourd and a bound bundle of unpaid inn bills.

It is internationally famous for the animated film "Pompoko" by Isao Takahata.
